NASA and Air Force partner to study next-generation rocket engine

Today, Nasa announced a partnership in which NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center and the U.S. Air Force will cooperate to study a “affordable, next-generation rocket engine.”  The joint partnership will enable both rocket users to minimize costs and protect an endangered rocket propulsion industrial base, NASA said.  Read more here.

Alabama’s agriculture producers must ‘think globally’ to compete globally

Alabama agriculture exports are currently at $1 billion.  According to Commissioner John McMillan, they must double in the next decade for the state to meet world food demand rates and remain competitive in the international marketplace.  Read more here.

Makeover at the Main Dish in Meridianville

Last month,frequent diners at Meridianville’s own The Main Dish restaurant were replaced with staff members of the Food Network show “Restaurant Impossible.”  The show selects struggling restaurants for makeovers based on their request.  Robert Irvine, the show’s British host, had $10,000 and 48 hours to work with. The rest of the country won’t be able to see the results until the show airs in June or July, but you can see it now by dining at the Main Dish.  Read more here.

City of Huntsville lends helping hands in honor of Earth Day

In honor of Earth Day (April 22nd), the City of Huntsville is celebrating tomorrow at City Hall, 308 Fountain Circle.  Residents are encouraged to register for the citywide Great American Cleanup and Beautification day and pick up free water, trash bags and trees along with hot dogs and burgers.  Earth Day at City Hall is from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and is sponsored in part by The Boeing Company.
