Birmingham-based Ina Stone recently published a book called “CEO Speaks: Sage Advice During Turbulent Times” — a book that features 44 business and nonprofit leaders from around the country, who Stone spoke with one-on-one.

According to The Birmingham News, she was inspired to write the book after listening to Fort Lauderdale businessman Richard Clark give a speech, in which he talked about how the economic downtown has affected business executives.

The book is self-published and is available at inastoneandassociates.com for $19.99.

Stone, a telecommunications consultant said it was tough both getting CEOs to chat with her for the book and also to schedule a time to interview them, according to The Birmingham News. She said she used her sales experience to help persuade them.

“I also think the CEOs like the concept of the book,” she said. “They realize how important, today more than ever, the subject of ethics is. We all know the negative effects poor leadership has on companies, for profit or nonprofit.”

Some of the CEOs that are featured in the book include Suzanne Durham from YWCA Birmingham, former Time Warner CEO Don Logan, Susie Kelley of Concepts Inc. in Alabaster and more.
